Prof. Zuyin Pu received the 2012 International Award at the AGU Fall Meeting Honors Ceremony, held on 5 December 2012 in San Francisco, Calif. The award honors “an individual scientist or a small team for making an outstanding contribution to furthering the Earth and space sciences and using science for the benefit of society in less favored nations.”
2013年12月13日下午，地球与空间科学学院本科生与部分空间专业研究生前往中国空间技术研究院，先后参访了东方红卫星股份有限公司和载人航天展览。本次活动由空间物理与应用技术研究所焦维新教授、郝永强副教授联络安排，本科生、研究生共83人参加，由学院团委副书记常一尧负责活动的组织工作。
2013年11月11日至14日，第三届全球华人空间天气科学大会在桂林召开。会上我所袁憧憬、尧中华同学荣获全球华人空间天气科学大会青年优秀论文奖。获奖论文题目分别为《双层结构外辐射带》和《偶极化锋面附近双电流片结构》。
为促进不同研究方向的研究生之间的学术交流，北京大学地球与空间科学学院空间物理与应用技术研究所于2013年4月20日至21日在房山区十渡镇召开2013年度研究生学术研讨会。研讨会以“空间天气对人类的影响”为主题，为期两天。

4月22日，我所部分师生前往中国科学院地质与地球物理研究所十三陵综合观测站参观实习，并与地质与地球物理所师生联欢。
